Creating Markets
How to Create a Market
- Sign in with Hive Keychain or HiveSigner.
- Click “Create Market” in the navigation bar.
- Choose the market type (binary manual, price auto, sports auto/manual, multi-outcome, etc.).
- Select the token for the market: HIVE, HBD, or any supported Hive Engine token.
- Fill out the market details: question, category, resolution date, and description.
- For auto-resolution markets, configure the resolution source (coin and price target for crypto; event and bet type for sports).
- Choose your side and set your opening bet amount.
- Confirm the transaction.
Market Type Options
- Yes/No (Manual): binary market resolved by admins with proof
- Price Target (Auto): binary price market, auto-resolved via CoinGecko or Yahoo Finance depending on the selected asset
- Sports: Match Winner (Auto/Manual): pick the winner of a sporting event
- Sports: Spread (Auto/Manual): point spread handicap prediction
- Sports: Total (Auto/Manual): over/under total points
- Sports: Home / Draw / Away (Auto/Manual): three-way result for soccer
- Sports: Double Chance (Auto/Manual): home or draw, away or draw, or no draw
- Sports: Team Total (Auto/Manual): over/under one side’s points
- Sports: Winning Margin (Auto/Manual): which side wins and by which band of points
- Sports: Both Teams To Score (Auto/Manual): do both sides score at least once?
- Sports: Odd / Even (Auto/Manual): is the combined score odd or even?
- Sports: Prop (Manual): custom sports proposition
- Multi-Outcome Winner (Manual): multiple outcomes, single winner
Guidelines
- Questions should be clear, specific, and verifiable.
- Set a reasonable resolution date, far enough away for meaningful trading but with a definite outcome.
- Your opening bet is capital at risk, just like any other prediction.
- The opening bet establishes initial odds and seeds the pool.
- For manual markets, you can enable early resolution to allow resolution before the scheduled close.
